What I love most about Spanish cinema is that even in films with metaphorical, subtext-laden, and elaborate narratives, it tells you exactly what it wants to say right to your face. Even in the most mysterious films, it leaves clues in plain sight. Or when it wants to use indirect storytelling, a character (obviously as the director&#8217;s deliberate choice) lets the essence of the matter slip from their mouth. To put it differently, we could say that horror-thriller genres get their fair share of Mediterranean character.
