About Us
Korku101 can be described as the culmination of our horror content creation journey that we’ve been pursuing since 2020 under the name Kat 3 Daire 5. As five friends who love watching horror films, reading horror literature, and even listening to horror-themed folk tales and urban legends, we started the podcast we named Kat 3 Daire 5 in August 2020. Truth be told, we had started recording the podcast much earlier and had even uploaded a few episodes. However, it took nearly a year for the podcast to truly take shape and fully transform into a horror podcast. But eventually, we created a podcast that we genuinely enjoyed recording and sharing with our listeners.
To briefly touch on the name Kat 3 Daire 5, it’s somewhat of an evolved version of Kat 3 Daire 8, a four-page section dedicated to each issue’s theme in Getik Fanzin, which was perhaps the beginning of everything for us. When we started recording the podcast, we were all living in apartment number 5 on the 3rd floor of different buildings, so choosing a name for the podcast wasn’t difficult… Kat 3 Daire 5 means Floor 3, Apartment 5.
After recording the Kat 3 Daire 5 Podcast for three years, we started uploading videos to YouTube with a concept still related to horror but completely different from the podcast. However, from the day we started the podcast, the idea of creating a platform where we could produce written content always lingered in the back of our minds. Finally, this wish came true and we launched this site, which we named Korku101. Honestly, we didn’t overthink the site’s name either. As you may know, in the Kat 3 Daire 5 podcast, we published some topics as multi-episode files, and we named the first episodes of these files “Vampire 101,” “Zombie 101,” “Werewolf 101,” and so on. The site’s name simply comes from there. We thought that perhaps the content we publish on the site might serve as an “introduction” to the horror genre for some people.
Our goal is to transform Korku101 into both a news source for horror cinema, horror literature, and more, and to support the Kat 3 Daire 5 Podcast by sharing our interpretations about the origins of terrifying folk beliefs and the transformations these beliefs have undergone over time, starting from memorats and urban legends.
